Both Rambicur and Kinne came to the Desert Inn when it opened in 1950 while Saiger joined the Dl personnel in 1952. A wise businessman once said that success comes from "the way you run your store." The various Desert Inn departments (or stores) are run by an impressive list of persons, all continuing to serve as they have done for many years. John Licini, veteran casino executive (to Cecil Simmons) came to the Dl in 1951 when the Inn was celebrating its first birthday. A native of Cincinnati, John's first trip to Las Vegas was made in 1943 when the city consisted of little more than 31,000 people. Casino executives Frank Soskin and C. J. Jones both were on hand when the Dl opened in April, 1950. Their friends are many. Two more casino executives, Joe Kinne and Howard Rambicur, came to the Dl in its first year, TO MANY PATRONS of the Desert Inn, no trip there would be authentic without a visit to Pancho Alliati, maitre d' of the famous Crystal Room. Here Pancho, who has been at the Inn since 1950, points to only a few of the numerous photographs of personalities with whom he maintains a close friendship. These include Noel Coward, Bob Hope, Jimmy Durante, Betty Hutton, Hopa- long Cassidy, Cary Grant, and many others. MARYANN DONOHO, attractive reservations manager of the Desert Inn, has been at your service for many years. FRANK SOSKIN Here from the Beginning both as dealers. Kinne, from Patterson, N.J., and Rambicur, from Cincinnati, are both excellent golfers. Another popular casino personage is Mort Saiger, who has lived in Las Vegas since 1942, He came to the Dl in 1952 and has been active in local music groups. His record collection of old masters is said to be one of the largest in the country and contains all the recordings of Caruso. Wilbur Stromberg, five years at the Dl as hotel and casino executive, has developed a host of friends since coming here and not an evening goes by that he doesn't greet an old acquaintance. Maryann Donoho, whose work in the reservations department makes her a most popular young lady, is always around when you need her. She has been here since the hotel opened. Another well known face at the Desert Inn belongs to Pancho Alliati, Crystal Room maitre d' who came to the Dl the year in which it opened. Although there is new management at the Desert Inn, guests will find their old friends continuing to offer the finest service of any hotel and casino in the world.
