PUBLIC HEARING ON ASSESSMENT DISTRICTS It was decided that the Public Hearings on Assessment Districts Nos. 100-3, 100-4, 200-1 and 200-3 be held January 10, 1950 at 8:00 P.M. There being no further business to come before this special meeting, Commissioner Bunker moved this meeting adjourn. Cragin with the following members present: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple; City Manager George O. Treem, City Attorney Howard W. cannon and City Clerk Shirley Ballinger. His Honor stated that this meeting had been called for the purpose of acting upon the resignation of R. F. Malburg, Chief of Police, and anyone who wished to speak on the matter could at this time. Mr. Henry C. Davis stated that he felt Chief Malburg had done a fine job, and he would like for him to remain. Mr. Arthur McCants spoke at this time and said that he would like to have Chief Malburg stay, but if he had a better opportunity the Board should release him. Mr. Art Harris asked if there had been any pressure brought for the Chief to resign. His Honor stated there had not. Mr. Harvey York asked if this were a trial or a meeting to act on Chief Malburg's resignation. His Honor said this was a public meeting and all who wished to speak would be heard. Mr. William Carter of the Teamsters Union spoke at this time. He said that in the two years that Chief Malburg had been in charge of the Police Department it had been run better than ever before.
