PUBLIC HEARING ON ASSESSMENT DISTRICTS CITY TAX RATE - Protest ORDINANCE NO. 412 Loud Speakers GARBAGE CONTRACT Supplemental Agreement PROPOSED ORDINANCE Street Lights WITH"; ALSO REFERRED TO AS CHAPTER 37, SECTION 7 OF THE CAS VEGAS CITY CODE, AND TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NO. 302 ENTITLED; “AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE TO REGULATE THE USE OF WATER IN WOODLAND PARK ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS BETWEEN THE MONTHS OF MAY 15 AND SEPTEMBER 15 INCLUSIVE; AND DEFINING THE REGULATION OF WATER; REGULATING THE USE THEREOF} AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE: AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THERE­WITH", ALSO KNOWN AS CHAPTER 37, SECTIONS 8 AND 9 OF THE LAS VEGAS CITY CODE, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Moore and Whipple was read in full to the Board. Thereafter Commissioner Moore moved that the foregoing entitled Ordinance No. 411 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting ayes; noes, none. Commissioner Bunker Moved that public hearings on Assessment Districts Nos. 200-1, 200-2 and 100-3 be set for May 15, 1950 and the Clerk authorized to publish notice of these hearings. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting ayes; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved the City Attorney prepare a letter to the Nevada Tax Commission protesting the $1.45 rate apportionment of taxes by the Clark County Commissioners, before the 1950 budget is approved by the Nevada Tax Commission. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting ayes; noes, none. Commissioner Bunker moved that Mr. William Shearer be notified of the reports received by the City Attorney on the question of certain manufacturers outside the City of Las Vegas retailing to local people. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker; Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting ayes; noes, none. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 21, SECTION 33 OF THE LAS VEGAS CITY CODE PROVIDING FOR "REGULATING AND PROHIBITING YELLING, SHOUTING, ANNOUNCING, MUSIC AND OTHER NOISES ON THE PUBLIC STREETS AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES IN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; PROHIBITING DISTURBANCES ON THE STREETS BY SAID NOISES; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO" BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SUBSECTION TO BE KNOWN AS 'SUB-SECTION (2) (d)', was read to the Board. Commissioner Whipple moved the foregoing entitled Emergency Ordinance No. 412 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore , Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting ayes; noes, none. Commissioner Morre moved the supplemental agreement with Nevada Sanitation on the Contract to dispose of garbage be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker; Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting ayes; noes, none. An Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE EMPOWERING, AUTHORIZING aND DIRECTING THE EX-OFFICIO CITY ASSESSOR OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, COUNTY OF CLARK, STATE OF NEVADA, TO LEVY A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT TO DEFRAY THE COST OF MAKING CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS BY INSTALLING COMPLETE STREET LIGHTING FACILITIES WITH STEEL STANDARDS AND SINGLE OVERHEAD WIRE ON SERIES LIGHTING SYSTEM ALONG CERTAIN STREETS AND PORTIONS OF STREETS IN SAID CITY, ACCORDING TO THE PLATS, DIAGRAMS, AND ESTIMATES OF COST THEREOF ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, DESCRIBING DEFINITELY THE LOCATION OF SAID IMPROVEMENTS, STATING THE AMOUNT OF SAID ASSESSMENT AND DESCRIBING AND DESIGNATING THE LOCALITY CONSTITUTING THE DISTRICT TO BE ASSESSED ACCORDING TO THE FRONTAGE, AND OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Bunker and Peccole for recommendation. There being no further business to come before this special meeting, Commissioner Moore moved this meeting adjourn. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting ayes; noes, none.
