Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Theta Theta Omega Chapter ON TRACK Committee Report December 4,1999
This is the first report of the ON TRACK Committee. It is our goal to keep Theta Theta Omega Chapter members informed about the ON TRACK Program, which involve "our children at our school," H.R Fitzgerald Elementary School.
The ON TRACK Program received a School-To-Careers Federal Grant for $6,908 for instructional career materials for elementary students enrolled in the program. Committee members are actively seeking additional funding from local businesses and community service organizations to support the program as we work toward our strategic plan of enrolling 20,000 at-risk students in grades 3 through 6 in ON TRACK.
January 7, 2000, is the kickoff day for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Theta Theta Omega Chapter ON TRACK Program. This celebration will be held at the H.R Fitzgerald Elementary School, 2651 North Revere Street, North Las Vegas in the Multipurpose Room from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Theta Theta Omega Chapter Program Report - December 1, 2001 Submitted by Soror Billie Rayford
As a member of Theta Theta Omega Chapter, you approved and supported a tremendous program for the year 2001. I would like to give you a brief overview of the chapter's accomplishments for the year.
We started the year with a beautiful entry in the Martin Luther King Parade. Once the MLK "fun run" was completed, efforts then focused on the fourth annual Mardi Gras celebration where 300+ guests viewed our first Mardi Gras souvenir booklet and supported our major fund-raising effort.
The proceeds from Mardi Gras and the second annual Juneteenth celebration allowed the chapter to distribute $3500 in scholarships to local graduating seniors. At the 2001 Founders Day program, two hundred thirty sorors and guests joined Theta Theta Omega and Kappa Xi chapters as we commemorated the legacy of our founders, celebrated the accomplishments of our great sisterhood, and heard the inspiring words of past Supreme Anti-Basileus and Grammateus Rosalind Griffin of Detroit, Michigan at the beautiful Paiute Golf Resort. Theta Theta Omega and Kappa Xi chapters
Do we support ON TRACK? You bet we do. The fifth grade class at H. P. Fitzgerald Elementary delighted in the activities of the multicultural arts festival that included activities to celebrate the history of jazz, poetry, writing with storybooks, along with an arts and crafts activity made especially for MOM. Kindergarteners had a "bootiful" time at their Halloween bash. The distribution of books and enrichment materials were funded through a School-to-Work grant, donations from publishers and chapter members.
Children from the community "took to the friendly skies" as they were introduced to the world of aviatiorUhrough a collaborative with the Tuskegee Airmen, the Experimental Aviation Association, and United Airlines. Theta Theta Omega was responsible for involving over 100 children in the Inspiration and Young Eagles Flights. The chapter was recognized in the national newsletter of the Tuskegee Airmen. /'
We celebrated Black Dollar Days, the Twenty Pearls Investment Club became a reality, and the community will join a dynamic roster of financial and legal professionals at the third annual Money Matters seminar on December 8, 2001. The focus on leadership development continues. Members have actively participated in the leadership modules, the chapter operations workshop, cluster, and regional conference activities. Not only are Theta Theta Omega and Kappa Xi members in attendance at the local and regional levels, workshop presenters from each chapter received rave reviews fortheir presentations during cluster and regional conference activities. Thanks to the support of our Far Western Regional Director Soror Diana Shipley, Theta Theta Omega now has a strong presence at the regional level. As we plan for Leadership Seminar 2003 and Regional Conference 2005 in Las Vegas, your support will be crucial.
Our standards committee provided the direction to improve chapter operations. The chapter incorporated recommendations of the Audit Committee into operational procedures. The chapter adopted revisions in the By-Laws and a Manual of Standard Operations.

J Public policy issues were addressed through the Connections Committee. Theta Theta Omega organized and participated in registrar of voters training, AKA Day at the Capitol, and "So You Want to Run for Public Office Workshop."
J The Publicity Committee launched a chapter website. Thanks to the efforts of the Ivy Leaf Reporter, articles on Theta Theta Omega programs and sorors appeared in the last four issues of the /vy Leaf.
J The Membership and Hospitality Committees keep us bonded as a chapter. We enjoy monthly treats in recognition of birthdays, anniversaries, and personal celebrations. Sorors are right there to provide the strength and encouragement in times of need.
J Members thoroughly enjoyed the Summer Cooler, Chapter Retreat, and had a grand time as we welcomed seven new sorors to the sisterhood. We are also proud that six sorors transferred to Theta Theta Omega and three reactivated at the Boule level.
J The AKA Teens program continues to gain momentum. Participants are active in community service projects, leadership development activities, fund raising efforts, and community partnerships targeting youth.
J Who can forget the efforts of the Graduate Advisor's Task Force as members joined the AIDS for Southern Nevada Fun Walk, assisted in the undergraduate mentoring program, supported the Undergraduate Week and MIP activities. Theta Theta Omega members beamed as Kappa Xi members were recognized for academic excellence at campus recognition activities.
J The Music Committee brought lovely melodies to our hearts.
Thanks to the efforts of our Nominating Committee, the chapter had a dynamic slate of officers from which to choose. The Tellers Committee validated results of the various elections. Thank you for keeping the integrity of the elections process.
J Weren't we on top of the world when the chapter achieved the doctoral level in the Educational Advancement Foundation efforts and NBLIC Health Program was awarded the first annual Cornelia Banks Health Award at the Far Western Regional Conference? We can also give accolades to the NBLIC/Health Committee for bringing the Supreme Basileus and Far Western Regional Director to the third annual Health Forum. We look forward to supporting the new Sudden Infant Death Syndrome initiative.
J Also at the Regional Conference, the chapter scrapbook won second place. Theta Theta Omega sorors were awarded second place ribbons for entries in the poetry, arts and crafts, and the Ida L. Jackson Award categories.
J Thanks to the generosity of chapter members, twenty-two families received Thanksgiving baskets, and eighty coats were donated to local charities for AKA Coat Day. For the newly implemented AKA Make A Difference Day program, Theta Theta Omega received a $700 donation credit for items donated to the local Shade Tree Homeless Shelter. Plans are now under way to support the Senior Citizens Project.
•/ As we close the year and celebrate our accomplishments, we look forward to seeing you at the Theta Theta Omega Christmas Party at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2001.
Now tell me, are the members of Theta Theta Omega Chapter BLAZING NEW TRAILS'?
The proof is in the 2001 Program. Because you are the best, I ask that you stand and give yourselves a round of applause for the execution of an exemplary program.
To keep the momentum going for 2002, I ask that you please complete the committee sign-up and return it to me at the end of the meeting.

If current trends continue, lower birth rates, increasing drop-out rates (especially among at- risk youth) business and industry will soon be relying on employers without a positive orientation to the world-of-work. Community members and employers are concerned about the fact that many students are unable to demonstrate minimum competencies in basic reading, writing, math, listening, speaking, thinking, problem-solving, comprehension, and social skills.
The primary objective of this program is to assist at-risk children in making good decisions and right choices to ensure their academic, social, and physical readiness for their entry into middle school.
    Description of Project:
Volunteer professionals will work with a 3rd grade class of approximately 25 - 30 students on career development, self-awareness, social skills, group skills, and study skills as they are promoted to 4th and 5th grade. Students will be able to grow in awareness of themselves in relation to the world-of-work. Activities will infuse career awareness into reading, math, science, social studies, and language arts.
This program will prepare these elementary students for their entry into middle school.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Theta Theta Omega Chapter ON TRACK October 7, 2000
The H. P. Fitzgerald Elementary School ON TRACK Program was implemented by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Theta Theta Omega Chapterin 1999. Lastyearwas an exciting year. Throughout the year students were supported by School-To-Careers funding and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority members who assisted students as mentors. Mentors helped students increase their learning and achievement through working with them on academic skills in reading, writing, mathematics, also problem solving, career development and social skills. Students were exposed to cultural activities during the school day and after school, as well as visits to the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. Mentors tutored students and helped them with their homework in the after-school program. The ON TRACK program provided students at H. P. Fitzgerald with the kinds of experiences that a regular school environment does not always include for students. The more experiences we can provide for students the more students will learn.
We anticipate on working with the same group of students entering the 4 th grade this year. As with all evolving programs, success is the product of revisions, additions, and refinement. This year our ON TRACK Program, will focus on reading. The ON TRACK Committee has worked hard to develop a way for all sorors to participate in ON TRACK. Fourth grade is a very important grade for our students at Fitzgerald Elementary. As caring adults we want to make sure that all of our students can READ. We need your help in pairing each one of the students enrolled in ON TRACK with an A-PAL(reading buddy). We are counting on you to say "YES" to becoming an A-PAL today. We are asking each soror for a minimum of one hour of time this school year (See Sandra Steward-Bass to pick up your ON TRACK PACK and to select your PAL.) Mentors will participate in these simple activities:
Read to your Pals 4th grade class at least one time during the year.
Send your Pal a FREE Birthday Book
Send your Pal a Birthday Card
However, the door is always open for several other OPTIONAL events which mentors are encouraged to attend which include:
    Guest Speaking
    Field Trips
    Science Project Mentoring
    Career Day Activities
    Tutoring
Arts & Humanities (after school dance program)
    Attending student activities
    Providing technology assistance
We appreciate your involvement with ON TRACK. Enthusiasm, flexibility, and involvement are factors critical to the success of the program. Hopefully, each of you had the opportunity to view the portfolio developed by the students. Students were very pleased with our ON TRACK Program last year. We look forward to an even more successful 2000-2001 school year!
As Alpha Kappa Alpha women, we have a responsibility in our community to assure that our children can READ, receive quality instruction, and to stay ON TRACK.
Thank you for participating in the ON TRACK Program!

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ON TRACK Committee Report September 9,2000
The 2000-2001 school year will be even more critical for ON TRACKER”s promoted to the 4th grade this year. Last year sorority members read to students, chaperoned field trips, purchase shoes for the cotillion and read books to students during National Reading Week.
Dr. Yvonne Walker, the newly assigned principal at H. P. Fitzgerald Elementary School is very excited about the opportunity to work with her sorors from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
The ON TRACK Program has been awarded another grant this year from School-To-Careers in the amount of $10,400. Students will receive career exploration instructional materials, math, science, books, school supplies and new two computers with printers. Grant funds will be utilized in the classroom. Arts and Humanities activities such as the cotillion will require support from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. The most important contribution needed from sorority members is participation in activities during school and after school. A sign up sheet and calendar will be available at the October meeting.
A planning meeting will scheduled in late September with Dr. Walker and Mrs. Graves to align Theta Theta Omega, ON TRACK goals with students learning and achievement goals.
    Theta Theta Omega ONTRACK Program Goals for the 2000-2001 include;

Reading to students throughout the year

Double the number of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority members participation.

Increased emphasis on tutoring students after school in reading, math, and science
The ON TRACK Portfolio developed by Mrs. Graves class will be on display immediately following the meeting. Students developed this portfolio especially for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Theta Theta Omega Chapter members.
I would like to thank all of you for your contributions, leadership and support of our ON TRACK Program during the 1999-2000 year.
