Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. City Manager Kennedy reported that there were approximately 77 gaming applications and 85 liquor licenses that have not been paid nor applied for. Discussion was held on enforcement of the new ordinance which provides mandatory revocation of licenses if not paid by the due date. The Commission advised the City Manager that since this was a very new ordinance that the public should be allowed to become familiar with the provisions before rigid enforcement is made. At this time a letter from the Monte Carlo Club advising the Commission that sale negotiations are underway, but further indicating that the tavern liquor license for the 3rd quarter has been applied for, was considered. Commissioner Whipple moved the tavern liquor license for the Monte Carlo Club Inc., by Fred Soly, 15 Fremont be approved for the 3rd quarter of 1956. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved the application of Chris Tsouras, President of the Golden Slot Club Inc., 22 Fremont for renewal of 40 slot machines be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. The application of Wilder G. Steele for license for 6 slots, 1 Craps, 1 Keno, 1 "21" and 1 Poker at the Cotton Club, 500 Jackson Avenue was considered. This application is a change in that the names of J. A. Ewing and Lila Lee are being deleted from the license. Commissioner Fountain moved the application of Wilmer G. Steele, Cotton Club, 500 Jackson for license for 6 slot machines, 1 Craps, 1 Keno, 1 "21" and 1 Poker for the 3rd quarter of 1956 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Consideration was given to the application to add the name of Mel Exber to the license for one Sports Book at the Derby Sports Book, 113 South 1st Street, presently issued in the name of John D. Gaughan. Commissioner Bunker moved the application of John D. Gaughan and Mel Exber for license for one Sports Book at the Derby Sports Book, 113 South 1st Street for the 3rd quarter of 1956 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. The Commissioner considered the request of Joe Schramm and C. G. Hoover to add the name of Frank Costanzo to the gaming license for Duffy's Tavern, 1815 South 5th Street. Commissioner Sharp moved the application of Joe Schramm, C. G. Hoover, and Frank Costanzo for license for 4 slot machines at Duffy's Tavern, l8l5 South 5th Street for the 3rd quarter of 1956 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none.
