Gaughan, Saratoga Sport Book, 114 South 1st Street for license for l Sports Book for the third quarter of 1953 be approved subject to investigation by the Police Department. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, Commissioner Jarrett. Commissioner Whipple moved the action approving the application of William Byrne for a Sports Book license at 115 North 1st Street taken August 5, 1953, be rescinded due to the fact Mr. Byrne did not have a State license at that time. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved the application of William Byrne for a Sports Book at 115 North 1st Street be approved subject to investigation by the Police Department. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved the application of C _ L Enterprises for license for 2 slot machines at Larnin's Drug Store, 812 South 5th Street for the third quarter of 1953 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved the lease with the Red Cross for property on Mesquite Street be approved for one year with a five year option, and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Mrs. Martha Lundy appeared before the Board to request that Las Vegas be air marked by painting Las Vegas on the Smart and Final roof. Commissioner Bunker moved this matter be referred to the City Manager to determine the cost and report back to the Board at the next regular meeting. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. The request of Alcoholics Anonymous to use the Library was referred to the City Manager to arrange to hold meetings in the Council Chambers on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Commissioners Jarrett and Sharp, committee for recommendation on the proposed Setback ordin­ance requested additional time before reporting. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING OWNERS AND KEEPERS OF HOTELS, INNS, MOTELS, MOTOR COURTS, AND BOARD AND LODGINGHOUSES, TO POST THEREIN A LIST OF CHARGES FOR LODGING; REQUIRING THE FILING THEREOF WITH THE CITY CLERK; PROHIBITING EXCESS CHARGES; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Bunker and Sharp was read in full to the Board. Thereafter Commissioner Bunker moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 568 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioners Jarrett and Whipple, committee for recommendation on the proposed Ordinance regarding Commission voting restrictions requested additional time before reporting in order that the Grand Jury can check this ordinance. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE AND CONTROL TRAFFIC BY DESIGNATING CERTAIN STREETS AND PARTS OF STREETS WHEREIN TRAFFIC SHALL MOVE ONLY IN ONE DIRECTION; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Sharp and Whipple was read in full to the Board. Thererafter Commissioner Whipple moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 569 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 19 AND 21 OF CHAPTER 24, CODE OF U S VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949 , BY FORBIDDING HOTLES IN AN R-4 DISTRICT; PROVIDING THAT HOTELS SHALL BE IN A C-2 DISTRICT; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Sharp and Whipple was read in full to the Board. Commissioner Sharp moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 570 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL SECTION 39 (B) CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, AND TO AMEND SECTION 51, CHAPTER 36, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, BY PROVIDING REGULATIONS FOR THE MOVEMENT OF TRAFFIC; PROVIDING FOR THE OVERTAKING AND PASSING OF OTHER VEHICLES PRECEDING IN THE SAME DIRECTION; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCESIN CONFLICT HEREWITH, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Bunker and Jarrett for recommendation. 8-19-53
