Eer rendition of "The Lord's Prayer" set to music was really impressive. Barbara, we are told, won first place against 65 contestants in the talent contest sponsored by the Fletcher Conservatory. Congratulations, Barbara! May your appearance last week be the forerunner of many appearances at the great resort hotels of "The Strip." * * * * * * * * * * * * WEST HOLLYWOOD The West Hollywood Rotary Club has appealed to President Leonard for support of a Resolution they intend to introduce at the District Conference, in support of a Rotary Broadcast Program by District 160 reaffirming its belief in the Con-stitution of the United States of America and the Republic for which it stands* DISTRICT CONFERENCE President Leonard has an appeal from Governor Eck Hiestand regarding attend-ance at the District Conference, in which he mentions several very important opportunities: 1. Inspiration for the whole Club from the achievements of this year and the brilliance of the program. 2. The chance to "dig out" that "lukewarm Rotarian" who is satisfied and complacent. You must get him here to jolt him into being a good Rotarian and an asset to the Club. 3. Your freshmen are a "mast". Those initiates of 1949-1950 should be here for the whole conference, but especially for the "Freshman 3reakfast." It will be a WOW. 4. Start your new officers right. Much of value is presented. 5. But lastly! Entertainment, fun, frolic and relaxation. No fees, and the meal cost is very low. President Leonard joins our Dis-trict Governor in this appeal to our members to attend. Those who do attend will be happily satisfied. Those who do not attend not only lose the great sat-isfaction these conferences give, but fail to support their Club as they should. The conference will be held at the beautiful Huntington Hotel, Pasadena, May 23, 24 and 25. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * SYMPATHY Our sympathy goes out to Rotarian ;ge Harris who lost M s sister two father last wgei&- WHEEL OF ROTARY Page 3 GUEST ROTARIANS The following members of other Rotary Clubs attended o-ur meeting of last week: HUH VIST HAVISON Burlingame, Cal. A LETTER PROM OSAKA Secretary Allye Lawson recently sent a copy of The Wheel of Rotary to the Rotary Club of Osaka, Japan, and has received the following re-piy- "I am duly in receipt of your pamphlet, for which I wish to thank you very much. I am happy to say that the , Osaka Rotary Club is exerting every effort to fulfil its obligations and purpose in world peace, friend-ship and fellowship all the time. I also think that ignorance is one of the greatest barriers of world peace. I, therefore, will promote a. better understanding through every opportunity with your Club and Rotary Clubs in other parts of the world hereafter. I also wish to present you reference materials for our club as soon as they are prepared. In behalf of all the members of our Club, I wish to extend to you and the members of your Club, our warmest regards, and we are al-ways glad to hear from you.
