Consideration of Police affairs. s/ Shirley Ballinger SHIRLEY BALLINGER, City Clerk ACCEPTANCE OF NOTICE We, the undersigned Mayor, Commissioners, City Manager and City Attorney of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, do hereby admit due service of the foregoing Notice of Special Meeting: s/ C. D. Baker________ s/ Reed Whipple C. D. BAKER, Mayor REED WHIPPLE, Commissioner s/ Wendell Bunker s/ C. W. Shelley WENDELL BUNKER, Commissioner C. W. SHELLEY, City Manager s/ Rex A. Jarrett REX A. JARRETT, Commissioner HOWARD W. CANNON, City Attorney s j William Peccole WILLIAM PECCOLE, Commissioner A special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas held this 18th day of January, 1952 was called to order at the hour of 9:00 A. M. by His Honor Mayor C. D. Baker with the following members present: Mayor C. D. Baker Commissioner Wendell Banker Commissioner Rex A. Jarrett Commissioner William Peccole Commissioner Reed Whipple City Manager C. W. Shelley City Clerk Shirley Ballinger Absent: City Attorney Howard W. Cannon CHIEF OF POLICE The City Manager read the resignation of Chief L. B. Maxwell to the Board at this Resignation time, and recommended that this resignation be accepted. Thereafter Commissioner Jarrett moved the resignation of L. B. Maxwell Chief of Police, as recommended by the City Manager, be accepted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commis­sioners Bunker, Jarrett, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Peccole passed his vote. CHIEF OF POLICE At this time the City Manager recommended that A. H, Kennedy be appointed Chief of Appointment Police to fill the, vacancy created by the resignation of L. B. Maxwell. Commissioner Bunker moved the recommendation of the City Manager be accepted and that A. H. Kennedy be appointed Chief of Police of the City of Las Vegas at a salary of $503.00 per. month, being Step 4 of Schedule 27 of the Salary Classifica- tion. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commis­sioners Bunker, Jarrett, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, Commissioner Peccole0 There being no further business to come before the meeting at this time the meeting adjourned.
