    Restoration of Surface The Contractor shall replace all surface material, and shall restore paving, curbing, sidewalks, gutters, shrubbery, fences, sod, and other surfaces disturbed, to a condition equal to that before the work began, furnishing all labor and material incidental thereto. In restoring paved surfaces, new pavement is required. No permanent paving shall be placed within 30 days after the backfilling shall have been completed, except by order of the Engineer. Cleaning Up Surplus pipe line material, tools, and temporary structures shall be removed by the Contractor, and all dirt, rubbish, and excess earth from excavations shall be hauled to a dump provided by the Contractor and the construction site shall be left clean, to the satisfaction of the Engineer. CHLORINATION OF COMPLETED PIPE LINE Before being placed in service, all r}qw water dis­tribution systems, or any valved section of such water distri­bution system, shall be chlorinated. The following method of procedure shall be followed, subject to approval of the Engineer: Preliminary Flushing Prior to chlorination, all dirt and foreign matter shall be removed by a thorough flushing. Each va.lved seption of newly laid pipe shall be flushed independently. This shall be done after the pressure test and may be done either before or after the trench shall have been backfilled, Liquid Chlorine A chlorine gas-water mixture shall be applied by means of a solution-feed chlorinating device or other method as approved by the Engineer. Point of Application The preferable point of application of the chlorinat­ing agent shall be at the beginning of the pipe, line extension, or any valved. section of it, and through a corporation stop inserted in the horizontal axis of the newrly laid pipe. The water injector for delivering the gas-water mixture into the pipe shall be supplied, from a tap on the pressure side of the gate valve controlling the flow into the pipe line extension. 10
