Las Vegas, Nevada April 1, 1953 A regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, called to order at the hour of 7:30 P.M. by His Honor Mayor C.D. Baker with the following members present: Mayor C.D. Baker Commissioner Wendell Danker Commissioner Rex A. Jarrett Commissioner William Peccole Commissioner Reed Whipple City Manager C.W. Shelley Asst. City Mgr. Dora Lord City Attorney Howard W. Cannon City Clerk Shirley Ballinger Commissioner Bunker moved Service & Material Warrants Nos. 2396 to 2400 inclusive in the total amount of $20,408.50 be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved the Minutes of March 18, and 25, 1953, be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Bunker moved Shirley Ballinger be appointed as City Clerk effective March 16, 1953, at a salary increase of $425.00 per month and the following resolution adopted: WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 371 was signed by the Governor on March 16, 1953; and WHEREAS, Section 4 of said Bill made no provision of salary of the City Clerk of the City of Las Vegas from said date; and WHEREAS, the office of the City Clerk is an electvie office whose term will expire on June 1st, 1953; and WHEREAS, it is necessary that a salary be fixed for a City Clerk for the City of Las Vegas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas as follows: 1. That the salary of the City Clerk of the City of Las Vegas shall be in the sum of $425.00 per month, beginning March 16, 1953. 2. That the functions and duties of the City Clerk shall remain the same as provided in the charger of the City of Las Vegas. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED This 1st day of April, 1953. s/ C.D. This being the time set for the Public Hearing on the rezoning of a portion of the NE¼ NE¼ Section 4 Township 21 South, Range l6l East, MDB&M. Generally described as being located on the West Side of Clos Road which runs South from Charleston Boulevard. His Honor asked if there was anyone present who wished to protest this rezoning.
