Commissioner Sharp disqualified himself from voting because he has done some work for Mr. Wilver. Commissioner Bunker moved the application of William Coulthard, H. E. Miller, E. W. Fountain, Allan L. Sharpe, James I. Cravens, J. E. Bare, George Von Tobel and A. G. Blad for a Tavern liquor license at the MacDonald Hotel, 208 North 5th Street, for the first quarter of 1955 be approved subject to favorable police investigation. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Jarrett stated that he writes insurance for the MacDonald Hotel. Commissioner Whipple moved the application of Aldo Barozzi, Alrays Liquor Store for a Retail Liquor Miniature license at 224 North 2nd formerly located at 209 Stewart Street, be approved. Commissioner Bunker moved the application of Dennis Schumacher, Silver Spur, to move his Retail Liquor Miniature license from 521 Carson to 1508 South 5th Street be held in abeyance until a check can be made to see how close this is to the church. Commissioner Sharp moved the application of Murray Petersen and Sam and Lila Zona to add the name of Clay A. Petersen to the Restaurant Beverage license at the Round Up Drive In and the Retail Liquor Miniature license at the Round Up Liquor Store, South 5th and Main, be approved. Commissioner Jarrett moved the application of Hugh and Winifred Pinkstaff for a Retail Liquor Miniature license at Sue's Liquor Store, 1236 South 5th Street, be held in abeyance until next meeting. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, Commissioner Bunker. At this time Mr. Jack Conlon of the Tavern Owners Association appeared before the Board at this time and stated that he thought the ordinance should be clarified so that package liquor licenses could not be changed to tavern licenses and vice versa. He also requested that the Board consider changing the ordinance limiting the number of licenses. Mr. Theodore Glenn also appeared before the Board to protest the issuance of a package liquor license at 2301 South 5th, said building which is right in front of his motel. He filed a letter of protest with the Board. City Engineer George Wade presented a realignment of South 3rd, Utah and 5th Street at this time. He stated that it was the recommendation of the Traffic and Parking Committee that this intersection be changed so that the traffic comes in at right angles. Thereafter Commissioner Sharp moved this street design be accepted as recommended by the City Engineer and Traffic and Parking Committee. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. City Manager George Rounthwaite recommended that the bid of Gene's Auto Body for the towing contract for the City of Las Vegas in the amount of $210.00 per month be accepted. Commissioner Bunker moved the recommendation of the City Manager be accepted and this contract awarded to Gene's Auto Body. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. 12-29-54
