    PZAZZ!'68' HEADS FOR DESERT INN By GEORGE H. JACKSON Opening Friday night .at the IJesert Inn Hotel of a new spectacle presentation, "Pzazz! '68," highlights the week's show news from Las Vegas. J H o 11 y w o o d through the years is the theme of the presentation, which was produced by Frank Sennes and directed by Donn Arden. Three-hundred and fifty costumes have been created for the revue, ranging from mini- burlap outfits to sparkling evening gowns, and utilizing materials from all over the world. Featured singing spot will be filled by Bambi Mccormick and a novelty turn is to be offered by juggler Rudy Cardenas. Show change also coming up for the Congo Room of the Sahara Hotel as Donald O'Connor and June Allyson open a four-week engagement Tuesday night. Current headliners, Norm Crosby and Robert Goulet, close Monday night. Also on schedule at the Sahara are Johnny Carson on Oct. 31 and Connie Francis and Pat Henry Nov. 15 through Dec. 10. Current engagement of Harry Belafonte and company in the Circus Maximus Room at Caesar's Palace has been extended through Oct. 14. He will be followed by comedian Henny Youngman and singer Tony Bennett on Oct. 15 and then Tammy Grimes and Bud and Cece Robinson open Nov. 2 and Lou Rawls makes his debut on Nov. 30 to round out the entertainment through the balance of the year. "j ?╟≤ Bobby Darin is in the final days of his current engagement in the Flamingo Hotel, but next year he will appear at the Frontier Hotel. He has just signed a new three-year pact with the Frontier. Currently the Frontier continues the lavish spectacle revue, "Europa 68." Flamingo's schedule calls for Phyllis Diller, Warde Donovan and Gig and Ginger to follow Darin, opening Oct. 12. Coming up here on Nov. 16 are Peggy Lee and Myron Cohen. ?╟≤ Holdover situation in force at the Tropicana as the cur- I rent Centennial Edition of "Folies Bergere" heads for a second year in the main room. Continuing in the Blue; Room are Dukes of Dixieland and "Les Jolies Poupettes." The New Vaudeville Band returns Oct. 13. ?╟≤ Like situation at the Dunes Hotel where "Casino De Par- Las Vegas &h&iws is" rolls along in the supper club room, but one change is set for the Persian Room when The Kentones open Friday along with the continuation of "Vive Les Girls." ?╟≤ Pat Collins and comedian Roger Pryor top the lineup in the Bagdad Room at the Aladdin Hotel with Billy Eckstine announced for an Oct. 6 open- Strong entry coming up next Wednesday in the Copa Room at the Sands Hotel when Rowan and Martin will be in charge of comedy and Kaye Stevens in charge of songs and hilarity. They follow the current headliners ?╟÷ Mel Torme and Alan King. Schedule is open Oct. 25 through Nov. 21 at the Sands, but Sammy Davis will take over Nov. 22 through Jan. 2. Run of "Hello Dolly" continues into an eighth week at the Riviera Hotel with Ginger Rogers and Dorothy Lamour still alternating in the lead role. Like situation at the Thun- derbird where Jerry Schafer's musical, "That Certain Girl," is being held over until early December. ?╟≤ Bonanza Hotel joins the changing parade on Monday as Mamie Van Doren brings her new act to the Opera House. She will be in for four weeks. ?╟≤ Rounding out the show scene along the strip is the Stardust, where Don Cornell opens Friday in the lounge. "Le Lido De Paris" is in its 12th month in the main room. ?╟≤ Opening tomorrow night in downtown Las Vegas as pert and pretty Patti Page opens a four-week stay in the Fiesta Room at the "Fremont Hotel. Featured on the new program is Howard Storm. ?╟≤ In northern Nevada, Sammy Davis and George Jessel open tomorrow night in the South Shore Room of Harrah's Tahoe while Anita Ray and Diane Hall continue their debut engagement in the State- line lounge. High Sierra Room of the Sahara Tahoe currently has Shari Lewis and Gene Barry as stars with Red Buttons and Vikki Carr slated to open on Oct. 10. In the same region, Harvey's Hotel has Barbara Mc- Nair and Jackie Gayle in the Pavilion with Helen O'Connell next on schedule, opening Oct. 13. And finally the show situation in Reno is dominated by the debut appearance of Ray Charles in the Headliner Room at Harrah's Reno.
