    Each recipient will receive a $2,000 scholarship
    The goal of the Arts and Humanities committee is: to develop programs that will enhance the knowledge and appreciation of youth and adults for the fine arts; highlight the accomplishments of African-American artists; and keep the sorority informed of cultural performances throughout the Las Vegas community. We must continue to heighten awareness of the arts, support arts education, promote potential artists, augment appreciation of the arts, and make the arts available to a larger public.

    Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Theta Theta Omega Chapter
    In partnership with RMHC/AAFA Scholarship Program
    Ronald McDonald House Charities local chapters, with support from Global RMHC, McDonald’s and McDonald’s restaurants, offer scholarships to students from communities who face limited access to educational and career opportunities. These scholarships are part of RMHC’s and McDonald’s ongoing commitment to education.
    Who May Apply
    Clark County and Nye County high school female seniors who have at least one parent of African American heritage. Other requirements include attendance at an accredited post-secondary institution during the academic year following their graduation, a cumulative GPA of 2.5and demonstration of financial need.
    Deadline and Required Supporting Documents
    Completed applications must be received at the Ronald McDonald House or postmarked by March 15, 2004 along with the following supporting documents:
    -
    A high school transcript that contains the student’s class rank and test scores
    A double-spaced 400-500 word essay - “Identify your career goals and explain how you plan To achieve these goals.”
    -
    A personal statement that provides information about their African American background, community involvement, career goals, and desire to contribute to their community. Applicants should consider the personal statement as the equivalent to an interview. Statements must not be more than 2 pages in length.
    Two letters of recommendation from persons such as a teacher, counselor, coach, or employer
    Award
    Amount of award to be determined. Verification of enrollment is required. Scholarship funds will be disbursed in equal payments over two semesters by check paid directly to the school Scholarship funds will not be paid to the students.
