Chio Hecht 302 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, DC 20510 Dear Senator, On behalf of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater New York, representing 52 major Jewish organizations in the metropolitan area, we want to thank you for the vote you cast to disapprove the sale of sophisticated weaponry to Saudi Arabia. We fully concur that it is not in America's best interest to supply arms to any nation that undermines American goals in the region and remains in a state of war with Israel. The Saudis, in particular, have consistently undermined efforts to arrive at a peaceful solution to the Middle East conflict while funneling billions of dollars and political support to the PLO and other terrorist elements bent on Israel's destruction and attacks on US interests. The message to the Saudis and to others will be clear: America will not be an indiscriminate arms merchant and will not be allayed by hollow pledges or threats of blackmail. We applaud the position you have taken on this issue and support your continuing efforts to reject this proposal. Sincerely yours Peggy Tishman President Nina Rosenwald Chairman, Commission on Israel and International Concerns Malcolm Hoenlein Executive Director
