I believe Henderson, if he could be appointed assistant to Leo, would be acceptable to Leo, although I have never mentioned this natter to hi®, as I know his first request would he for the appointment of hi® younger brother, but confidentially I do knew that an appointment of this kind would be of no benefit to us at this time. Undoubtedly Henderson* s service a could be secured for a very nominal sum per month, with privilege of transportation on o r line, and I would then be in position to call on him for assistance at different service club meetings and meetings of the city commissioners. i’he other attorney I have in raind is Marion B. .Bari, president of the Notary Club and a mighty well liked young fellow who is fast developing a good practice. -&arl assisted Leo in the last monoxide gas damage suits against the Six Companies, and it is a known fact that it was thru Bari’s Influence (he being a Mormon and the jury being composed pxineimlly of Mormons} that the Companies secured a favorable verdict. M ther of these men would be a great help to me here, not only in Las Vegas Land and later %aipasy business but more so in connection with railroad matters; but on account of Henderson’s wide acquaintance and years of practice I would much prefer hia appointment, if it is possible, over that of Lari. I think you will realize, as I do, that this is a very delicate subject to bring before Leo, but really believe it should be done, and in the most diplomatic way posed ble. km sending copy of this letter to Mr* Bennett, under personal cover* Hoping you will give this matter your very early consideration atsd let me have your advice, I am Yours truly. fo Mr* Knickerbocker, M iM r a V beac5k b i 7 copy to Itr* Bennett*
