    Under the present wording, cm employee taking his vocation during a period which includes a holiday, in effect, loses the holiday. The suggested wording is as follows: A vacation of ten (10) working days with pay w ill be allowed each employee after one year of service with the District, and after each succeeding year of service. It w ill be the policy of the District to permit the vacations to be taken at the time selected by the employee, insofar as possible without Interfering with District operations. In case of conflict between the times desired by employees who cannot be away at the same time, the employee with the greatest length of service, including service with the Las Vegas Land and Water Company, w ill be given preference. The vacation may be taken at one time or may be taken in two periods of five (5) • working days each. The vacation shall start on Monday, except in the case of employees working on shifts with days off other than Saturday and Sunday. In such cases, the vacation shall begin on the.day following the regular days off. Where a vacation is taken in two periods, priority in choice of time, ais against any other employee taking his full vacation, shall apply only to the first period. Where an employee requests a leave of absence without pay in connection with • a vacation, no priority shall apply as regards the leave of absence, which shall . be assumed to follow the vacation. The same shall apply to any time in excess of ten (10) working days due to combining accrued vacation for the current year with any remaining from the previous ye ar. After the first year of service, vacation time w ill be considered to accrue at a uniform rate from the date on which the last vacation became due, and one-half may be taken as soon as it has accrued,- subject to the limitations on time of taking set forth above. After the first year of service, when employment is terminated through no fault of the employee, or when an employee resigns in.gopd standing, accrued full days of vacation time w ill be allow ed. N o vacation time w ill be allowed an erapleyee discharged for cause, nor an employee who resigns in other than good standing. An employee w ill not be considered in good standing who fails to give two weeks notice of an intention to resign^ or Such shorter period as is approved by the District; or who resigns to avoid discharge, other disciplinary action, or investigation. Vacations may not be accumulated from year to year, but mUst be taken w ithin the year following the date on*which they become due, except when postponement of the vacation* is at the request of the District. SICK LEAVE The present rule.reads cq follows; Sick leave with pay w ill accumulate at the rate of one day per month of service up to a total of 60 days. Total service with the Las Vegas Land and Water Company and the Las Vegas Valley Water District w ill be used in calculating accumulated
