Mr. W, R. Bracken: . Referring to your letter of May 22, file W 23-3*3, regarding water recorders! This item was not included in the estimate for water facilities because it was originally anticipated that there would be enough excess funds available from the previous appropriation covering pipe replacements to purchase this article. However, in view of the revisions that have subsequently been made in the pipe replacement program, it is doubtful if sufficient funds will be available from that appropriation, and it will probably be necessary now to wait until the total expenditures under that appropriation have been determined before purchasing the recorders, or there may possibly be enough available under Form 30 No. 257 to take care of the item.
