H. Johnson Re: Water Service No. 60^ Gentlemen: ______Our Store 985 - Las Vegas Under date of August 6, you forwarded a notification to our above store advising that we were going to be charged $92.00 per month additional water charge on the basis of our having two refrigeration machines of 60 tons capacity installed in our store. It is our feeling that this water charge is on the basis of our using refrigerated air conditioning without the use of an economizer for condensing the Freon. In designing our air conditioning plants, we do everything possible to minimize the operating expense of our air conditioning equipment and in the case of this store we have installed an expensive economizer which greatly reduces the amount of water consumed. If we did not have this economizer, the water used for condensing purposes would amount to approximately 150 gallons per minute. With the economizer, the only water we require is for the evaporation as this water is recirculated over the fin eoils of the economizer and the make-up water required due to evaporation Is less than one gallon a minute while the plant is in operation. Our connection to the economizer to keep the water level in our economizer tank at the proper level is through a 1 / 2 “ toilet float valve. We believe you have made up your charges on the basis of our having a. condenser that is cooled entirely by city water, and we feel this Is not fair to the type of system we have Installed.
