In presenting intact Paris "Le Lido" show, Frank had the titanic task of compensating for the show's radical departure from star personality shows. It could only be accomplished with the high standard of artistic splendor for which the superbly talented Donn Arden is internationally renowned. Arden was more than equal to the task of endowing the juggernaut of entertainment with the lush staging, opulent, glittering and imaginative costuming and delicate feeling for the display of nudes that are the Lido's distinguishing features. The initial production, blazing with motion and color, burst upon the stage in the Stardust's Cafe Continental in scene after scene of incredible brilliance. Setting the stage for its electrifying successor shows, it overwhelmed the press and public alike. An avalanche of praise descended on it. Nowhere on the American scene had there ever been a show of such spectacular proportions. Spectacle on the most lavish scale ruled the dazzling production. Production numbers, breathtaking in execution and costuming, followed each other in kaleidoscopic fashion. Unmatched for stunning impact, the scenes raced with excitement and offered standards of artistic and technical splendor such as the show-world has never even attempted to duplicate let alone surpass.
