ENJOY COOL COMFORT W IT H WAGNER EVAPORATIVE COOLING FANS Economical w Evaporative -Type Coolers T h a n k s to the recent rapid development of the “Evaporative-Type Cooler,” comfort cooling for homes and small businesses is now available ’ to residents in hot, dry climates a t such low cost that all can now afford its welcome relief from the intense summer heat. The evaporative-type cooler operates on a very simple principle — a principle that is a common observance of people who live in desert regions — the principle of absorption of heat by evaporation of water. Evaporation o f water has been used for centuries to cool water and food and is perhaps the earliest refrigeration method known to desert people. Every drop of water that evaporates absorbs heat. This results in a reduction of temperature of the remaining water or of air coming in contact with the evaporating water. The same principle has also long been used for cooling water in cooling towers. Evaporative-type coolers can be economically used in localities where high temperatures are accompanied by moderately low humidities. They have been used successfully during the summer months in Arizona, Imperial Valley of Southern California and in Central Valleys of Cali- • fomia, Nevada, New Mexico, Western Texas, Utah, and parts of Oklahoma' Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska. In many other parts of the United States during certain seasons of the year, evaporative cooling can be successfully used. 'Evaporative-type coolers equipped with low-current consumption Wagner cooling fan assemblies are economical to operate. Tests conducted by universities and city engineers show that the evaporative-type cooler, when properly installed and operated, constitutes a very satisfactory and efficient form of summer comfort cooling to residents in hot climates where the .relative humidity is low. Actual results of cooling have shown from 20 to 25 degrees drop in temperature from outdoors to indoors. Evaporative cooling fan assembly shown on page 1 is a Wagner type 16K3. Motor is a totally-enclosed, rubber-mounted capacitor-type with ball-thrust bearings and multi-speed control. Blades are of the overlapping quiet-type made of heavy-gauge steel with cast-iron hub. A t the right are shown a few typical installations o f evaporative coolers equipped with Wagner evaporative cooling fans! Wagner evaporative cooling fans have earned an enviable reputation for satisfactory operation on thousands of evaporative coolers. W agner Evaporative Cooling|^i IDEALLY SUITED FOR COOLERS As a result of much field experience and research, working closely with users, air-conditioning engineers, equipment manufacturers, and utility engineers and managers, Wagner was able to develop evaporative cooling fans that embody all the essential requirements for satisfactory operation of evaporative coolers, and yet are extremely low in cost. Wagner evaporative cooling fans are preferred for coolers by the residents living in districts where humidity conditions are moderately low for the following reasons: For Economy and Good Performance. The low current consumption, the high efficiencies and high power factor of Wagner evaporative cooling fans make th^m the most desirable and economical to operate. For Large Cooling Capacity. Wagner fans are available in a complete range of sizes — varying from the 16 S fan adapted for cooling up to 2000. cubic feet of space, to the 24 K fan adapted for cooling up to 11,000 cubic feet of space. Installations requiring greater capacity can use a number of units in proportion. For Satisfactory Service. Every unit is carefully designed and engineered to give the best, most efficient, and most desirable service on an evaporative cooler. Most sizes of motors are totally-enclosed to prevent the entrance o f dust and moisture. On all sizes where excessive bearing thrusts result from the fan loads the motors are provided with ball-thrust bearings. For Low Cost. They are offered at such low cost that every resident living in hot or dry climates can afford to install evaporative cooling fans to obtain relief in sweltering summers. (Prices are given on the back side of this leaflet.) For Quietness. All Wagner evaporative cooling fan motors are of the slow-speed type and rubber-mounted for ultra-quiet operation. Blades are designed and shaped to eliminate wind noises. For Flexibility of Operation. Wagner fans are offered in choice of single-speed and three-speed units, permitting the flexibility of operation necessary to provide the right amount of cooling comfort at all times. For Dependability. Every unit is manufactured of the finest materials to give long life and uninterrupted service. All construction details have been carefully worked out by competent engineers and embody the results of over 40 years of experience in building successful mqtors. Every unit is fully guaranteed against defects in material and workmanship.
