% Los Angeles, October 3, 1952 Mr. W. E. Johnson - Las Vegas (CC - Mr. Wm. Reinhardt Mr. E. E. Bennett) Referring to our conversation today, relative to your letter to Mr. Reinhardt dated September 29, 1952, relative to water used, wasted, etc. by air conditioning and refrigeration equipment at Las Vegasj Mr. A. B. Lewis of the Thermalair, Inc. (Carrier Corporation) conferred with us, and advises that on page 2 of your letter, first column linder Gallons Per Hour per Ton of Refrigeration should be as shown on attached sheet 2, which is a revision of the sheet 2 of your letter to Mr. Reinhardt. Please check this statement for revised hours and amount of money. Mr. Lewis says that the efficiency of the machines and amount of water wasted will vary as to make, condition of machines, upkeep of machines, temperature of the water from water mains, mineral content of water, etc. As an over all average weather at Las Vegas he suggests that we use 10 gallons of water per hour for evaporation, drift, wastage, washing away mineral content, etc., instead of 3 gallons as shown on sheet 2 of your letter. Three gallons per hour means an efficiency of 97^ for the equipment which he states is far more than the average and probably not actually obtained in but very few installations, if any. Use of 10 gallons of water per hour per ton of refrigeration will change some of the figures in the other colums of sheet 2. You suggested that the items on sheet letter be revised, as follows: Air Conditioning Equipment Commercial (c) Por each ton of capacity or fraction thereof over one ton, Refrigeration - Commercial ~ (c) For each ton of capacity or fraction thereof over one ton, 3 of your Rate Per Month When Equipped with Recirculating System Change From To $.45 $.50 $.70 $.75 Ho other changes to be made on sheet 3.
