I did talk with Miss Maxwell, your secretary, and outlined, briefly, what I wanted to discuss with you. She advised that I write you a letter in order that^ you could clearly analyse this matter. I am President of the River Oaks Business and Professional Association of Houston; which is an organization designed to better the community, which includes River Oaks proper, The Shopping Center and immediate adjacent areas. We have, for several weeks, sponsored a program to induce more traffic in the River Oaks Shopping Center. We have 1*6 films in this particular promotion. Once a month, on the 3rd Saturday, at 3s00 P. M., we award an all expense trip for two, to cities and countries of major interest. Our first award was presented this past Saturday, and was an all expense trip for two people to Mexico City for five days. It was won by a lady who resides at Ella Lee Lane in River Oaks. Needless to say, a lot of enthusiasm is being engendered by people who partici- pate in this monthly award. At our weekly committee meeting, this morning, I was instructed to contact you and ascertain if we could not send our next monthly award winner to Las Vegas and that they be quartered at the Sands Hotel. Jim McConkey ?I| ;;;pr We publicise these trips through the following media; posters, circulars, newspapers and radio. The airlines have given us substantial reduced rates, due to the amount of advertising they receive from these media. We are wondering, since you are a native of Houston, and no doubt, very much aware of the clientele who participate in these awards, whether you would be interested in reciprocating, as much as is feasible for you to do so, for the publicity your hotel will get from this award. For the Betterment of the Community
