I agree.Metropolitan Las Vegas, for a period of at least 20 years. Such a plan should he developed hy the District or hy the Municipality. Other witnesses will present data on the cost to any private company, such as ours, of building a pipe line to Henderson under the assumption that some temporary water might be purchased there as set forth in the Greeley-Hansen report to the District; likewise, what the impact would be on our revenue and earnings if a comprehensive development were undertaken to build to Lake Mead. I may say, however, that the costs are so prohibitive that it is out of the question for any private enterprise such as our small water company to undertake. The over-all investment in the project itself is estimated at well over 7 millions of dollars. This is exclusive of the very material investment required to expand our own distribution system. I believe, considering these three suggestions, that if reasonable restrictions are placed upon the use of water, and if preventive measures are taken to prevent waste of water, that the City will have a sufficient supply of water developed by the present facilities to take care of its immediate needs for such time as will be necessary for the completion of the Lake Mead project. - 5-
