Mr. Knie ke rho ek er : #3 Oct. 27, 1936. (1) Adequately supply the present needs of the City and quiet the demand fo r municipal ownership of water u t ilit ie s , which seems to arise every summer during the period of our water shortage. In addition, i t affords a safe reserve to care for increase in population and new homes, which have not fa lle n o ff with the completion of Boulder Dam, hut are increasing. (2) Afford s u ffic ie n t overflow during the hot summer months to supply the Stewart b u rial plot with the 4 inehes of water reserved in deed to Railroad Co. when Stewart Ranch was purchased, and thus avoid a lawsuit against the Railroad Company which the Stewart heirs have been threatening for several years past, and for which they engaged an attorney this year and carried i t to the opening of court. (3) Provide su ffic ie n t water fo r irrig a tin g purposes on the Das Vegas Ranch, on which we receive an annual rental of #2,000.00. The lease provides delivery of 100 inches of water over a weir at the Ranch, or the lease ean be cancelled by lessee. These are the three main reasons, in the order of their importance. Incidentally, the surplus water during winter months w ill be u tiliz e d for improvement of Railroad land around the springs and w ells, which has been enclosed by fence constructed by D. 0. Lorenzi at his sole expense in return for use of the land. The grounds w ill also be regu larly policed by Lorenzi, which undoubtedly w ill stop the constant damage to our water fa c ilit ie s by mischievous boys and other trespassers. This w ill also reduce the fire hazard and stop the removal of the fine top so il and dumping of rubbish on th is property. Your s very truly Vic e-Presi dent ee - Mr. E. 3D. Adamson.
