Las Vegas - February 23# 1948 W 2 > 1 W 18-6-2 Mr. L. A. Whites Referring to your le t t e r February 3# f i l e 1-8, transmitting statement shoving number o f fe e t oBf'B various siz e o f pipe lin e in place as o f December 31# 1946, at Las.VegasJ We have compared this statement with the fo o t-ages shown in Annual Report# and agree that the differen ce in six inch pipe is due to duplicating footagea fo r Work Orders 429 and 522, and including footage fo r YiQ-470 at the time i t was physically completed in 1943, although same was not fin a n cia lly complete u n til 1947* This was the pipe lin e in Runtridge Unit No. 6. As you know, i t has been our pr&otiee in comp ilin g information fo r the Annual Report, to add each year the footage in sta lled under various work orders, and to subtract therefrom any retirements made during.the year. As i t now appears that we are to adopt a new basis from which reports fo r future years w ill be made, I thought i t best to review a ll o f our old work,, orders in order to be sure that the new basis thus adopted would be correct and Would r e fle c t the actual footage as shown in work order closeout reports. We have compiled a statement, based on work orderscloseouts, and are enclosing same in t r ip lic a te , fo r comparison with the statement attached t o syour le t t e r , which la tte r statement was apparently prepared from maps and As Constructed p rin ts. Please note we are substantially in accord on the larger diameters, that 1st 8-inoh, 10-inch, 12-inch and 16-inch lin e s , but there is some differences in the smaller diameters, as follow s! 3—lnoh* We were unable to locate in our f ile s the 1910 Work O rder'referred to (No. 928), but used as a basis in our 1938 report the footage o f 1955 f t , shown in Mr, H. A. Toland*a le t t e r June 7, 1938: from th is, we retired 80 f t . under WQ-4o7 in 1940, and 880 f t . under WO-416 in 19.41, which would leave 995 f t . in place today. This is apparently the 3-inch lin e running through the Grammar School yard on South F ifth S treet, between Ol&rk and Bridget Streets
