At this time Commissioners Bunker and Whipple members of the committee for recommendation on the proposed agriculture ordinance reported this ordinance unfavorably. At this time Commissioners Jarrett and Sharp members of the committee for recommendation on the proposed height regulation (NAFB) ordinance requested additional time before reporting. At this time Commissioners Jarrett and Whipple members of the committee for recommendation on the proposed setback ordinance requested additional time before reporting. At this time Commissioners Jarrett and Whipple members of the committee for recommendation on the proposed rezoning ordinance reported favorably. Thereafter an ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION IV OF ORDINANCE NO. 378, REFERRED TO AS SECTION 10, CHAPTER 24, OF THE LAS VEGAS CITY CODE, 1949, BY AMENDING THE LAND USE PLAN MAP ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS AND CHANGING THE ZONE DESIGNATION OF CERTAIN AREAS ON THE SAID MAP, was read in full to the Board. Commissioner Jarrett moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 617 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time an ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF THE MEMBERS THEREOF; PROVIDING FOR THE DUTIES OF SAID COMMISSION; AND PROVIDING FOR OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO, was read by title to the Board and referred to Commissioners Whipple and Bunker for study and recommendation. At this time the Board considered the claim for damages filed by Harry W. Brothers in the amount of $165.00. The accident occurred April 5, 1954, while walking on the south side of Carson between 3rd and 4th Streets because of a defective sidewalk. Discussion was held and Commissioner Jarrett moved the claim for damages be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved the supplemental agreement with Perliter and Soring be approved and the Mayor and Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes none. At this time the Commission considered the request of Herman D. Page for reduction of peddlers license. Mr. Page has a license for home delivery of bakery products. Discussion was held and this request was deferred until the next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Bunker moved the request of the Central Labor Council for the use of the City Park on September 6, 1954, be approved.' Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved the bond presented by the Southern Nevada Disposal Company, inc., in the amount of $5,000.00 for collection of garbage be accepted and ordered filed. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time the Board considered the application of State Loan and Jewelry for permission to hold an auction for 15 days commencing July 19, 1954. Thereafter Commissioner Jarrett moved this application of State Loan and Jewelry to hold an auction be approved subject to the filing of a bond and inventory of goods to be auctioned. This motion died for lack of a second. Commissioner Whipple moved the application Of D. C. Haight, Checker Cab Corp. of Nevada, for 1 Replacement Cab be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, Commissioner Whipple moved the meeting adjourn. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. 7-7-54
