Covina, Calif. San Gabriel Valley Tribune (Circ. D. 68,850) H3ARNEY GLAZER IN LAS VEGAS Tony Curtis Bpws in Palace u At long last, Tony Curtis makes his nightclub debut. Tony bows Nov. 2 at Caesars Palace. No need to ask Tony why he permitted so many other filmstars to get the saloon jump on him. Everyone can't be first. Even Zsa Zsa Gabor's most recent ex-husband can testify to that. Caesars Palace has acquired from ABC-TV the nightclub use of the title, "Hollywood Palace,' which seemed like the natural thing to do. So, Tony hosts the Caesars Palace "Hollywood Palace" (am I stuttering?) starring Tammy Grimes, Both stars head "Caesars j Palace" for four of the seven- week variety show schedule. What will Tony Curtis do besides look pretty? He'll perform the feats of magic he learned when he starred in the "Harry Houdini" movie. Smart lad, Tony. If the| act doesn't develop as planned, he has his own escape kit. And he knows how to get out fast when the danger is most imminent. Following "Hollywood Palace, Ion Nov. 28 Caesars opens "Fid- Idler on the Hoof," starring Theodore Bikel. This is a full scale production of the Broadway hit, not a scaled-down version. It should attract crowds like the mob scene from the May Company basement, EDDIE FISHER headlines the current Frontier Hotel show, jwhich once and for all should wipe away all traces of the disaster created by the Hotel's first attraction, "Europa Did you ever see an attraction that failed to attract? If Eddie can't pull the Frontier into the front ranks as a tourist trap, nobody can. He sings like the Pied Piper piped, The Frontier is going all out- for big names. Where Howard I Hughes and the Sands are trying jto deemphasize enormous !salaries, the Frontier is upping v its offers to bait the big fish. They follow Eddie with Bill Cosby, Bobby Darin, Barbara Eden, Abbe Lane and Diana Ross and The Supremes. That should cost the Frontier plenty of the stuff used for skimming! but then they expect to bait] fish with suckers. Now who do you think that would be except the great American public who know it, admit it and love it! PIANIST Van Cliburn, in Las Vegas for a concert at the Convention Center, caught the Trini Lopez show during his stay at the Riviera Hotel. Both Cliburn and Lopez have something in common for a couple uncommon guys. They kicked off their respective careers about the same time in Dallas, The pair spent a few minutes backstage following Trim's show reminiscing about the home town. The Riviera Hotel has signed Julius Wechter and the B Marimba Band to co-headline with Allen and Rossi in mid- December. Allen and Rossi open much earlier on Nov. 8 following Trini Lopez. The Baja aggregation is tied up in concert appearances, which means that Allen and Rossi open Nov. 8 with the popular Doodletown Pipers during the first two weeks of their five-week stay. 'PZAZZ' '68!" at the Desert Inn'Toffllntfes to draw crowds and praise. The production uses four tons of. mirrors for its mirrored ballroom scene titled "Tribute to Fred Astaire." A crew of six men is kept busy between each show cleaning and polishing the mirrors. Smudge and smoke from "Boomtown Today" scene create havoc. % ^?╟÷^_ VarNTGCreen Sheet w-ii-v News 8t wreen ?? V??"
