KENNEDY Las Vegas, Nevada October 9, 1957 (CALL OF SPECIAL MEETING) A special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada held this 9th day of October, 1957 was called to order at the hour of 7:30 P.M. by His Honor Mayor Baker with the following members present: Mayor C.D. Baker Commissioner Wendell Bunker Commissioner E.W. Fountain Commissioner Harris P. Sharp Commissioner Reed Whipple City Manager A. H. Kennedy Adm. Assistant Robert F. Boos Planning Director Franklin J. Bills Asst. City Attorney Ralson O. Hawkins City Clerk Shirley Lodwick Absent: City Attorney Howard W. Cannon Also present were the following members of the Civil Service Board of Trustees: Don Ashworth Charles Lee Horsey, Jr. George Knipp S. Grant Stewart City Manager Kennedy presented another request from Lembke, Clough & King, contractors for the construction of the new Sewage Treatment Plant for an extension of time. Mr. Kennedy advised the Commission that the Contractor was granted a thirty (30) day extension to October 13th at a regular meeting of the Board held September 4, 1957. Mr. Kennedy stated that the Consulting Engineers, Headman, Ferguson and Carollo would continue in their capacity on this project without additional charge until the 1st of November. The City Manager further advised that the manner in which this construction is proceeding, the plant will not be completed before the 1st of December, 1957* Commissioner Fountain moved that Lembke, Clough & King be granted an extension of time for completion of the Sewage Treatment Plant until November 1, 1957, and they be notified in writing that if additional time for completion is required that they will have to pay the cost for the services of the Consulting Engineers. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. The Commission considered the two vacancies on the Civil Service Board of Trustees caused by the expiration of the terms of Dr. Richard Laub and S. Grant Stewart, who are unable to accept reappointment. Commissioner Bunker moved that Ralph Denton be appointed to replace Dr. Laub and F.R. MacDonald be appointed to replace S.
