% Las Vegas,Nevada REVIEW - JOURNAL September 16, 19^-8 Clark county commissioners' yesterday set October 19 as the date when affected residents will decide on formation of the Las Vegas valley water district. On the date of the long-awaited election, certain residents also will vote for one director in: their division to represent them in a board comprised from the seven divisions. Commissioners yesterday also" 'named candidates for each of :the seven divisions from a list of names proposed by the cham- her of commerce. District Attorney Robert E. Jones said qualified voters will: have two propositions to- decide: One—should the water district be created?; and two— vote for one candidate to rep: resent them in their particular - division. - "r ; ,1 j Generally the following divisions will be created, and voters from these divisions will vote on (creation of the district and for 'one director. These were Pittman, Whitney, Army air base, 'North Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Paradise Valley and the highway 91 strip. Candidates named by commissioners to run were Harry Miller and Eloyd Prowell, division 1; [Frank Strong, Thomas A. Camp- jbell and Ryland Taylor, division 2: James Cashman and Howard Cannon, division 3; G. William Coulthard and Victor Shurtleff, division 4; Loiin Ronnow and A1 Corradetti, division 5; Spencer Butterfield, Nelson Conway and: H. C. Nickerson, division «, and, John Bunch and John Stafford,! division 7. Flans for the comprehensive water district were proposed to| provide an adequate water supply for the county’s growing population.
