Las Vegas - November 3* 19**7 W -j2>>3 Mr. R. L . Adamson* Your le tte r October l^th, f ile 733^, transmitting plan of In sta llin g pressure reducing valve at Main and Charleston: In phone conversation with one of the contractors this morning, he advises estimated cost of insta lla tio n is $1 3 3 9 . 0 0 , which includes restoration of pavement. Confinning conversation, I suggest consideration be given to in sta llin g this valve west of Main Street and in the clear of the street. Considerable automobile tra ffic uses this street enroute to the night clubs on South 5th Street and while we could probably obtain permission from the City authorities to work in the street, I doubt i f they would approve an iron plate being permanently placed in the pavement. I t appears also that this istould be a quasitemporary in sta lla tio n , as in the years to come we w ill undoubtedly replace the 12“ Tee with a Z k n Cross and continue east on Charleston Boulevard to more adequately serve Huntridge and the new Sub-divisions east thereof. In' order to avoid tearing out this in stallatio n when that time comes, I suggest the pressure reducing valve be Installed around the existing 2^“ valve just west of Main Street as indicated on attached pencil sketch. With this type of in sta lla tio n , we would not need to disturb i t in the future, but could use i t in the winter months when the demand is lig ht and neutralize i t in the summer months when the demand is heavy* On further thought, the 12" valves shown adjacent to pressure reducing valve should be located where the s p lit Tees come off the Z k a pipe, instead of in the box with the reducing valve. W ill be glad to have you give this your further cons ideration.
