MOORE, REED WHIPPLE, Commissioners, and J. M. MURPHY, City Manager of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada You and each of you will please take notice that pursuant to a call this day issued by Mayor Cragin, a Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, will be held in the Office of the Mayor, at the War Memorial Building, 5th & Stewart Streets, on April 18 1949, at the hour of 3:40 P.M. to consider the following matters: 1. Taxi Application - Checker Cab Corp. 2. Petition for removal of City Dump 3. Proposed Ordinance No. 382 - Amendment to Land Use Ordinance 4. Liquor Applications 5. Vacation of a portion of South 9th Street /s/ Shirley Ballinger SHIRLEY BALLINGER, City Clerk ACCEPTANCE OF NOTICE We, the undersigned Mayor, Commissioners and City Manager of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, do hereby admit due service of the foregoing Notice of Special Meeting: /s/ E. W. Cragin /s, Pat Clark /s/ Reed Whipple /s/ J. M. Murphy /s/ Bob Baskin_________________ ____________________________ ********* Las Vegas, Nevada April 18, 1949 CALL OF SPECIAL MEETING This special meeting held this 18th day of April, 1949 was called to order at the hour of 3:40 P.M. by His Honor Mayor E. W. Cragin with the following members present: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Whipple; City Manager J. M. Murphy, City Attorney C. Norman Cornwall and City Clerk Shirley Ballinger. Absent: Commissioner Moore. TAXI APPLICATIONS Commissioner Clark moved that the application of Rex F. Stilwell, Checker Cab Corp. for one Checker Cab Corp. taxi license be granted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Baskin and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Moore. PETITION FOR REMOVAL The petition of property owners for the removal of the City Dump was read and referred to the OF CITY DUMP City Manage to notify these people that this matter is being taken care of as soon as it is possible. PROPOSED ORDINANCE An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION X OF ORDINANCE NO. 378, AS AMENDED BY NO. 382 - Amendment ORDINANCE NO. 38l, OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMISSION OF THE to Land Use Ordinance CITY OF LAS VEGAS, ESTABLISHING A LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, CREATING ELEVEN (11) DISTRICTS, REGULATING AND RESTRICTING: THE USE OF LAND, THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS AND OTHER STRUCTURES: THE HEIGHTS AND BULK OF BUILDINGS AND OTHER STRUCTURES; THE PROVISION OF OPEN SPACES FOR LIGHT AND AIR; THE INTENSITY OF SUCH USES AND THE DENSITY OF POPULATION; ESTABLISHING BUILDING SETBACK LINES; ADOPTING A MAP OF SUCH DISTRICTS; DEFINING THE TERMS USED HEREIN; PROVIDING FOR THE ADJUSTMENT AND AMENDMENT THEREOF; REQUIRING THAT CERTAIN PERMITS SHALL BE SECURED FOR SUCH BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND IMPROVEMENTS AND FOR THE USE THEREOF, AND OF LANDS; REQUIRING CERTAIN FEES; PROVIDING FOR ENFORCEMENT AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH," AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, was read by title to the Board and referred to a committee composed of Commissioners Clark and Whipple for report at the next regular meeting to be held April 22, 1949. LIQUOR APPLICATIONS The following liquor applications for the 2nd quarter of 1949, change of owners were presented to the Board for their consideration: Richard J. Stephens Western Liquor Store 6 Charleston Sealed Pkg. Harold Estle Mathis Eight Ball Bar 117 No. 1st Retail Tav, Thereafter Commissioner Clark moved that the foregoing applications be referred to the Police Department for investigation and recommendation. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Moore.
