V % 0 ' / / COPY April 14, 1954 Mr. Thomas A. Campbell, President Las Vegas Valley Water District 135 South 4th Street Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Mr. Campbell: I would very much appreciate it if the District would give consideration to requesting the City Commissioners to establish, as of May 1, the water rationing program which was so effective last year. As you know, the production of water in Las Vegas has not materially increased over the last year, although there has been some increase due to the installation of our larger pumps. You are also aware of the 3,000 new residences built in the City during the last year and a large number of commercial establishments. It is obvious that in spite of our proposed plan to drill new wells, that the water situation will be very tight from now until those wells are brought on production and turned into our system, which I believe the engineers say will be a matter of sixty days. Under the circumstances, in order to assure an equitable distribution of water and conserve, so far as possible, the existing water supply, 1 would appreciate it if the District would formally request the City Commissioners to put in effect, as of May 1st, the water rationing program that was in effect last year. Very sincerely, s/ E, E. Bennett E. E, Bennett General Solicitor (Telephone dictation from CMC to PS 4-19-54)
