las Vegas, lev* June 29,1931 f 23-6 Mr* dm F* Shaughnessy, Chairman, Public Service Commission of Sevada, Carson City, Nevada* Dear Mr. Shaughnessy: fhis will acknowledge receipt of your letter dated June 26, 1931, along with copy of letter from Mr. G. B. laws of the Alameda Oil Company, addressed to the Public Service C ommi s si on, concerning a peculiar situation which exists in connection with his filling station. Of course arrangements could be made which would require alt consumers to place a deposit covering one or two months water rent, thereby guaranting our collections, but we have never found it necessary (lip to the present time) to make application on the Commission for this protection, and in only a few instances do we have any particular trouble in making our collections* Therefore, as long as we find it possible to do so, I believe it would be to the best interests of everyone, that we avoid the deposit system, as it may work a hardship on some parties, particularly where there are large families and there is a shortage of finances* fhe case o f Mr» laws happens to be where there are two or three taps serving a lunch room, some cabins, a root beer stand and a filling station, each operated by a different owner, but all located on the same property* From time to time they have connected the pipe between the individual services so that no one service can be discontinued, as when their tap is closed, the'y still receive water from the others* However, we will take this matter up with Mr* laws and work out some agreeable solution whereby he will not have to assume the responsibility of the other tenants. All that we would require is that the line serving the service station semain separate from the other connections* Ton may feel sure that whenever a peculiar case sueh as this arises, we are always glad to help people straighten the matter out to their satisfaction, providing it is within our power to do so* With very sincere regards, I am Yours very truly, TEC MC WAITER r. brackm Vice-President & Agent
