    Sammy Lee 2-2-2-2-2 popular athletes in the 1948 and 1952 Olympics, Lee was known for his willingness to help younger divers from every other nation. He took the Olympic diving crowns at London and Helsinki. He also was awarded the James E. Sullivan Men's Trophy in 1953, as "the American athlete who did the most to advance the cause of good sportsmanship." Following a stint in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, Dr. Lee took up his medical practice in Santa Ana, Calif., where he now is an ear-nose-throat specialist. W. R. "Bill" Schroeder of the Helms Athletic Foundation, and Los Angeles sportscaster Chuck Benedict are co-chairmen of the National Selections Committee. This year's event will be distributed for national television by Metromedia Producers Corp. Joey Bishop will serve as Master of Ceremonies, assisted by several celebrity guest presenters of the 'Victor' awards. TWA has been designated as the official carrier for the Sportsmen's World Awards, and will fly award winners to Las Vegas from all over the world. ##### (569sj ) G-rt
