MINUTES SENATE MEETING #21 April 22, 1980 Moyer Student Union Building 4 p.m. Room 203 Call to Order The twenty-first meeting of the Consolidated Student Senate was called to order at 4:00 p.m. in the Moyer Student Union Building. II. Roll Call Members in Attendance Gabi Ziros Bill Haldeman Dorothy Halpin Rick Oshinski Mike Taylor Susana Reyes Skip Kelly Ray Corbett Marty Burzinski Claire Dowel1 David Martinez Denise Rajnovich Kelly Campbell Dale Hulen Absent Scott Karosa-unexcused Sandy Williams-unexcused Pam Roberts-unexcused Dave Levins-unexcused Derrek Yelton-excused III. Approval of Minutes #20 There being no further additions or corrections the minutes of Senate Meeting #20 stood approved as read. IV. Executive Board Announcements A. Hotel College Senate President Pro Tempore Burzinski announced there will be a fund raising wine tasting party for the scholarship fund to be held on Friday. B. Elections Senate President Pro Tempore Burzinski announced that he is pleased that the Elections are over. Burzinski thanked all the Senators. C. Bike Cormittee Vice-President Wyman announced that they have received more information on bike racks. D. USUN'S Conference Vice-President Wyman announced that the conference would be held at UNLV.May 7-9. Senate Meeting # 21 April 22, 1980 Page 2 E. Awards Banquet The awards banquet will be held on May 15. The cost is $3.00 per person. Please Contact Dave Gist, or Lise Wyman. RSVP by May 6. F. Career Day Senate President Pro Tempore reminded the Senate that tanmorrow is the Career Day Luncheon. G. Nominations Senate President Alderman announced that next week will be held for the Hotel College vacancy and the Arts & Letters Vacancy. Executive Board Nominations Canmittee Reports A. Appropriations Board No report. The next meeting will be held on Friday at 2:30. B. Elections Board Robin Starlin read the minutes of the Elections Board. She announced that the elections had been certified. There was a move to approve the minutes and seconded There being no further additions or corrections the minutes stood approved as read. C. Entertainment and Programming Board No Report. D. Organizations Board Chairman, Dave Gist read the minutes of the Organizations Board. He announced that the Hotel Associations, Chamber Singers, Delta Zeta, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and UNLV Art club applied for rerecognition. All organizations were recognized except for the Hotel Associations. Senator Dowell moved to approve the motion was seconded. Discussion took place. Senator Burzinski moved to amend the minutes to rerecognize the Hotel Association the motion was seconded. Discussion took place. President Campbell requested a Roll Call vote. Passed with 12 in favor and 2 opposed. The minutes passed with 13 in favor and one abstention. E. Outstanding Senator Award Senator Dowell announced the three choices for Outstanding Senator. Carpooling Vice-President Wyman announced that the carpooling forms will be placed in the registration packets. VII. Old Business VIII. New Business A. Soccer Team Withdrawn from the agenda, B. Allied Health College Vacancy Senate President Pro Tempore Burzinski moved to nominate Valerie Biagini, and Lisa Rollins the motion was seconded. C. Art Club Presentation D. Hotel Presentation Withdrawn from the agenda. IX. Open Discussion The bike rack situtation was discussed and presented by Claude Warren. The situation has been placed on the County Comnissioners agenda concerning bike path plans. Next Monday the bidding will take place on the transmitter, and antehafor the Radio Station. Senator Hulen thanked the Senate on behalf of the Cheerleaders for loaning them $1,000.00 for the New York trip. X.
