MONTHLY 18.536 jyf4 - 1965 NAMES IN THE NEWS NAMES IN THE NEWS NAMES IN THE NEW S NAMES IN THE NEWS Max Blouet has been appointed general manager of the Hotel Intercontinental Geneve, Geneva, Switzerland, it was announced by Robert Huyot, Intercontinental Hotels president. Blouet's long and distinguished career included 29 years at the George V in Paris, vice president and general manager of the Ambassador East and West Hotels in Chicago, and vice president and general manager of the Drake in New York City. BLOUET PINTO Fred Pinto has been appointed general manager of the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, it was announced by Jack Entratter, Sands Hotel president. Pinto was general manager of the Warwick Hotel in New York City for the past two years, and just before that was manager of the British Colonial Hotel in Nassau, the Bahamas. Art Beizatc* has been named vice president and general manager of Yellowstone Park Co., where he has been manager of property operations. Bazata's promotion was announced by George Beall, president of the park company. Roy Watson, Jr. president and general manager of the Kahler Corporation, hotel/motel chain, was named "Hotel Man of the Year" at the recent Midwest Inter national Hotel/Motel Show at the Palmer House in Chicago. The award is sponsored annually by Michigan State University's School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management. Watson, a past president of the AH&MA, has been in the hospitality industry since 1935. SEYMOUR WEISS (center), president and managing director of the Roosevelt, New Orleans, has been named New Orleans' "Most Distinguished Salesman at Large" for 1965. The award was presented to Mr. Weiss by Charles A. Prechter (right), on behalf of the Sales and Marketing Executives Council of the New Orleans Area Chamber of Commerce Mrs. Weiss is shown looking on. Walter F. Schrott internationally known in hotel and club circles for many years, has been appointed general manager of Pittsburgh's distinguished Universitv Club, it was announced by the Club's board of directors. Before going to Pittsburgh, Schrott had been general manager of the Standard Club in Chicago. During his long career he has been associated with Trans World Airlines, the Mayflower in Washington, the Drake and Edgewater Beach hotels in Chicago, and leading hotels in New York, London, Belgium. Switzerland and South America. Arch J. Oliver, Jr. has joined the Futterman Corporation Hotel Division as supervisor of the Eastern Division, it was announced by C. DeWitt Coffman, vice president of Futterman's Hotel and Motel Division. He served as general manager for ten years in various Sheraton hotels, and was also associated with the Ponce de Leon in San Juan and the Palm Beach Biltmore for Weissberg Hotels.
