Water District Board Sifts 15 Top Engineering Firms ___ __nrns- t.Vns is 313Dl’O Ved, will be UScd 1 I Eleven engineering firms, pros pective surveyors, of the Las Ve­gas valley water idstrict, have been interviewed* by. the water district board of directors, it was revealed on Saturday. Four more concerns will appear before the board in the1 .next week or so and when all have been inter­viewed, the board will make the choice of the firm which will set up the groundwork for the be­ginning of the project. The engineering firms come from all parts of the United States, it was reported and some of them are internationally known. They have gone into the entire project and, when one concern finally is chosen the en­gineers will present a feasibility report on the water requirements and the; means of getting the wateWfino the valley. Har^y E. Miller, chairman of the board, revealed Saturday that the board had made application to the Colorado River commission, for 10,000,000 gallons of water per day, to be served at .the reser voir at Henderson. This will meet the immediate needs, it was ex­plained. The board also has made application to the Colorado River commission for the appro­priation of 200,000 acre feet of water from Lake Mead and, if this is approved, will be. used for the over-all picture when the system is in and: operating..
