    SHOSHANIM GROUP - HADASSAH General Meeting - February 5, 1996 The meeting was called to order by President, Sherry DeArmas, at 7:50 PM in the home of Marcy Simon All those present introduced themselves and stated their positions and membership status in Shoshamin. The collection was made for stamps for mailing the newsletter, toiletries for Shadetree and labels for St. Jude's Ranch. The minutes were read by Harriet Smylie and approved as written. Marcia Marx made a Treasurer's report. The balance is $264.29 with $50 dues holding for next year and $18 holding for the Ima Account with $196.29 available funds. Ima Fund collection was made at this time: $18 - Jackie Fleekop gave in honor of the breast card given at the last meeting. Her daughter Sandee's friend found a lump in her breast and had it removed due to her awareness through Hadassah's efforts. $36 - Ramona Luckman gave in honor of her daughter Stacy expecting twins. $18 - Marcy Simon gave to celebrate the opening of her home to Hadassah. Vice President - Education, Ramona Luckman, read an article from a school newspaper regarding Hadassah's help in Bosnia and Youth Aliyah program and other involvements throughout the world. Lori Lipman Brown was introduced as nominating committee chairperson. She announced the slate for the following year's elections: President - Sherry DeArmas Education Vice President - Sandee Fleekop Co-Fund Raising Vice Presidents - Kathy Menasche, Ramona Luckman, Irene Friedman Program Vice President - Jackie Fleekop Membership Vice President - Debbie Gardner Co-Organization Vice Presidents - Leah Sichel and Ellen Weinstein Treasurer - Marcia Marx Recording Secretary - Harriet Smylie Corresponding Secretary - Judye Skorina The elections will be held in April. We are hosting the Youth Aliyah luncheon on February 25th at the Port Tack, 3190 West Sahara Avenue. Menu choices will be salmon or linguine primavera at a cost of $25 per person. Lori Lipman Brown will be our guest speaker on the subject of her trip to Israel and the Youth Aliyah Page 2 o f 2 Village. Also speaking will be Leah Sichel, a graduate of Youth Aliyah. The program will be a fashion show by Irene Friedman. Volunteers were called for modeling. Those named were Debbie Gardner, Sandee Fleekop, Sherry Mayman, Ellen Weinstein, Stephanie Diaz, Ramona Luckman, Sharon Walker and Shelly Weinberg. Marci Simon is donating cash for the purchase of gift certificates from Fashion Show Mall. Debbie Gardner has donated two certificates of $25 each for free cleaning at the Corvette Cleaners. Telephone lists were distributed for RSVP's to the luncheon. Revisions of phone numbers should be made when calling. The next board meeting will be on Sunday, February 11th at the home of Harriet Smylie at 3:00 PM. All are welcome. The next general meeting will be held on March 11th at the home of Kathy Menasche. The meeting was turned over to Jackie Fleekop for her program on self-motivation. On Sunday, March 17th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM a wine and cheese reception will be held in the home of Jo-Ann Geller, President of the chapter. The guest speaker will be Dena Ben Yehuda, a senior physician in the department of hematology at Hadassah University Hospital. This will be in lieu of our March board meeting. Everyone in the group is welcome to attend, including husbands. RSVP is necessary. Please call 656-1666 to RSVP and for directions. Good and Welfare: Pauline Paas' son Marty will represent Nevada in Washington, D.C. at the National Congressional Youth Leadership Council meetings February 27th through March 3rd. Congratulations to Ramona Luckman on expecting twin grandchildren. Sherry DeArmas thanked Jackie Fleekop for her program and a special thank you to Marcy Simon for the use of her beautiful home.
