Explain Shortage The Las Vegas Land and Wa­ter company will be called upon to explain why it is not furnish­ing sufficient water to meet the needs of the Las Vegas area at a meeting to be held next Mon­day morning at 9 o’clock, City Manager Chet Shelly said this morning. Charles Williams,"member of the Nevada public service com­mission, will conduct the investi­gation in the meeting to which the city commission and repre­sentatives of the water company have been invited. I “The water company has a franchise to serve this area and it’s high time somebody found out why they’re not doing so satisfactorily,” Shelly explained. “The city feels it has respons­ibility, in this matter and the commission is determined to get some-action which will prevent future water . shortages of the kind that this summer are wreaking so much havoc with [the beautiful lawns of the com-jmunity,” Shelly commented. Williams made a complete in- Ivestigation in Las Vegas a year lago when the situation reached [emergency proportions.
