Mr. Albright then requested the assembled cjroup consider another problem that had come up today?ç The National Guard would like to bring their convention here in 1961, but since they ar*e a state Operation* they can neither jincurr debt nor receive any profits, theref ore; ji t will be necessary for the hotel & to underwrite tbeir convention i n the amount of approximat&Iy $5,000J Last year their convention was in Miami and there were 5200 delegates in attendance, this year it will be in Texas and next year in Hawaii. This cpnyention is held in November - Sunday through Thursday, Mr. McDoHald pointed out that since they would probably required abdut 3500 rooms, any hotels pro-rate share would be no more than a hotel might pay a travel agent. Mr. Albright was authorized to call General May and General LeGrange, informing them that the strip hotels were willing to accept the obligation of underwriting their 1961 conven- tion up to a sum of $5/000.
