Loa Angeles, February 26, 19^7 733^ m Ur* J* F* Mack: Referring to W.O* 3180, Las Vegas Water Facilities at Las Vegas, Nevada* On February 16th, 1 9 M7 , a servioe man from Byron-Jaokson Go* was at Las Vegas at which time the new booster pumps in Charleston Bird* pump house were serviced, packing plaoed in packing glands and alignment checked* On February 1 9 th the power was turned on and pumps operated for a period of approximately 1 0 minutes each* The operation of pump and motor in north end of pump house was entirely satisfactory but when the south motor nearest the door was operated, the motor developed a distinct vibration with a slight grating sound with each revolution of motor* Arrangements are being made to have this motor checked by the manufacturer and it should not be plaoed in operation until this is done. She fire pump was also started and operated satisfactorily. During our inspection on above dates, the following minor items of work were noted which should be taken care of before work order is dosed: 1* Paint fire hose box posts a light grey; 2 * * fire hydrants red; 3 , * wooden louvres on settling basin light grey; 4 * H unpainted piping in booster pump house to match paint on pumps;' ®§ pipe sump drain away from front of booster pump house; 6 . Patch holes in outside of booster pump house walls where electrical oonduit enters; 7* Grease oheck valves* This applies to the 2M>" check on bypass line around pump house, 2 % l6“ checks in pump house and 2 - |tjp checks to be installed at Clark and Ogden Street meters. These are Chapman valves and are greased through Alemite fittings Installed in plugged holes at each end of oheck bearing* These alemite fittings are furnished with each new valves The Chapman check valves at old reservoir consisting of 1 - 36“ check in bypass around pumps and 2 - 1 2 “ checks in pump house should also be greased and checked to see that they are operating properly. It is necessary that the 3 6 “ oheck valve be in good operating condition before the hot weather starts as we.believe this particular oheok valve is not now operating! 6 .
