Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole, and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved the application of Patsy Malpede, Nevada Bar, 115 North 1st for a Tavern liquor license for the third quarter of 1951 the same being the removal of the name of the Estate of Joseph Bortoli, be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Peccole moved the application of Vaughan Hafen, Vaughan's Sandwich Shop, 222 Fremont for a Restaurant Beverage license for the third quarter of 1951 be approved subject to favorable investigation by the Police Department. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. TRAFFIC ENGINEER The matter of the hiring of a Traffic Engineer was referred to the Traffic committee. VOLUNTEER FIREMEN - At this time Commissioner Jarrett presented a letter from Allye Lawson Telephone of the Southern Nevada Telephone Company regarding a setup whereby the Notification Volunteer Fire Department could be notified enmass of a call for their help at a large fire. Commissioner Jarrett suggested this matter be referred to the Fire Chief for his study and recommendations. Said report was ordered referred to Fire Chief Case for report at the next meeting. TELEPHONE SERVICE His Honor Mayor Baker discussed complaints he has received on the inability Committee to of people to reach the Police Department by telephone. He then appointed Investigate Commissioners Bunker and Peccole to investigate this matter and make their recommendations. TAXI CAB Mayor Baker appointed Commissioners Whipple and Jarrett to study the taxi cab ordinances, rules and regulations and make their report back to the Board. There being no further business to come before the meeting at this time Commissioner Jarrett moved this meeting adjourn until August 15, 1951 at 7:30 P.M.
