Frank 0. Case, Stanwich Road, Green-wich, Connecticut: "Both Winifred and I always look forward to receiving the copies of ;the 'Wheel of Rotary'. We were par-ticularly pleased to receive your note on the December 22nd issue and ;your Merry Christmas....We often !think of the days in Las Vegas and !our friends there. While it was ;tough going at BMI for the first two ! years, the friendships we ma.de and !the unusual charm of Las Vegas made ;it possible for us to carry on. Our !regret is that it isn't possible for jus to continue to live there and yet i do the work I have spent so many :years learning to do. "Your shows at Bill's Last Fron-t i e r and other places are equal to :or better than those in New York. :Unfortunately, you have had cold weather recently, but we have had a water shortageJ If you don't be-lieve it, ride the subwry. " I also note that BMF may sell or lease the rest of its facilities— surely hope it is a big success. "Please give my best wishes to all the Rotarians. With best regards and all good wishes to you and Rotary for the New Year,... Sincerely, Frank" JOHN BOICE WRITES A letter from John Boice, who is now at St. Petersburg, Fla., says, in part: "Many thanks for your lovely Xmas card and the bottle or perfume, which arrived safely—we enjoyed them both. "Christmas this year was almost a total blank for us both. We were very sick in bed—could hardly dly knew WHEEL OF ROTARY Page 3 day arrived, and the nights have all been nightmares *** "But now to business—I am asking to resign from the Rotary Club out there— they have taken me in here again, or will by next week, and with my health the way it is, I know it is for the b e s t . . . . I kept my record 10C% for.35 years, but a week ago it was a narrow squeak—I had to be carried in on a stretcher to get credit for attendance, but today it was a little better—I made it under my own power. "So please tell all the boys the news—thank them for all their kindness to me—and if the Lord be willing in May or June we will bo calling on you. all again. "P.S. Grace sends her love and best wishes to you all, and a hearty wish for A VERY HAPPY KET7 YEAR." John's address is 3535 Oakdale Street, St. Petersburg, Florida. Innes, 2C Crossgate, Cupar, Fife, Scotland, says, in part: " I have your letter tf the 5th inst,, also the box tf holly, with the delight-ful cards. The Desert Hclly has in-trigued us all. We have nothing like it here, and I sent a piece to a cousin who is a sort cf an expert in gardening. It was new to her also, and all are tak-en by its velvet-like fe&l. Very many thanks I must try to send you a sprig of cur Lucky White Heather, hut the present is not the time. It grows in rare climps on our mountains, but I have a plant that blooms regularly in my garden. "The copy cf the 'Desert Rat' is unique and witty. It has been passed on to cur Rctarian wit in St. Andrews. He told me today cf his latest esca-pade. You may have read that "Two Hoots" Shinwell, our War Minister, re-cently belittled a dinner for notables and said that he preferred "Fish & Chips". Lur Rotarian friend has sent him at the House cf Commons a parcel tf Fish & Chips together with a letter in fine sarcastic style, saying that unlesg he hears to the contrary he will send him such a parcel every week. Ho had also arranged for three others to send such a,parcel to the House of Commons, and as Fish & Chips (the snack popular with the laziest female artisan) have a very powerful aroma, he hopes that the Rt. Hon. member's ltcker in the house will smell strongly.! (This interesting letter will be con-tinued in next week's "Wheel")
