SQUIRES, being duly sworn, deposes and says: That he is Editor of Las Vegas Age, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, printed and published at Las Vegas, in the County of Clark, State of Nevada, and that the attached Ordinance No. 269 was published in said newspaper for a period of 2 weeks from February 13, 1942 to February 20, 1942 inclusive, being the issues of said newspaper for the following dates, to-wit: February 13, 20, 1942. BREEZE Notary Public in and for Clark County, Nevada My Commission Expires: June 9, 1943 EMERGENCY ORDINANCE ORDINANCE NO. 270 AN ORDINANCE CREATING A PLANNING COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, DEFINING THE POWERS AND DUTIES THEREOF AND MATTERS RELATING THERETO. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, do ordain as follows: SECTION: 1. It is hereby created a planning commission for the City of Las Vegas in accordance with Chapter 110, Statutes of Nevada, 1941, approved March 28, 1941, consisting of nine members. Six members shall be appointed by the Mayor of the City of Las Vegas with the approval of the City Commissioners; the remaining three members shall consist of the City Engineer of the City of Las Vegas, the Mayor of the City of Las Vegas and the City Clerk. The City Engineer, the Mayor and the City Clerk shall be ex-officio members. The term of each appointed member shall be six years, or until his successor takes office, except that the respective terms of five of the members first appointed shall be one, two, three, four and five years. Members may be relieved after public hearing by a majority vote of the governing body for inefficiency, neglect of duty or malfeasance of office. A vacancy occurring otherwise than through the expiration of term shall be filled for the unexpired term by the Mayor of the City of Las Vegas with the approval of the Board of Commissioners. SECTION 2. The said planning commission shall have the powers and duties and be governed by the proceedings prescribed by Chapter 110, Statutes of Nevada, 1941, approved March 28, 1941. SECTION 3. This ordinance is declared to be and is hereby passed as an EMERGENCY ORDINANCE and it shall take effect immediately after its passage and publication. SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to have this Ordinance published in the Las Vegas Review Journal, a daily newspaper, printed and published in the City of Las Vegas County of Clark, State of Nevada, for a period of two weeks, that is to say once each week for a period of two weeks. The foregoing Ordinance was read aloud for the first time and voted upon at a regular meeting of the Board of City Commissioners on the 6th day of April, 1942. Vote for: Commissioners: Smith, Tinch, Clark, Rubidoux, and his Honor the Mayor, Howell C. Garrison, and was read aloud for the second time and passed by the unanimous consent of the Board as an Emergency Ordinance on the 6th day of April, 1942.
