Mr. Bermett was hers and he was in the office of the Water Company, and Mr, Polger, and they called yon and me down to see if we couldn't set up the regulations and cheek the hours so we wouldn’t have as much trouble this year as last year — and the reason they couldn’t keep the reservoir full — and when the restrictions went on at 6s00 o’clock at night, then they would have a supply in the morning, and without restric­tions, they couldn't get any water in the reservoirs. Q. State whether or net this was also presented as a fire protection measure for the business district, so sufficient pressure could be obtained during the day* A. That’s right. They said with these restrictions they could maintain water for the business district and enough water in the event of fire. q. And those restrictions were Imposed by the City as a result of that request? A. They were* q. You made a statement that the Water Company stated they Intended to do nothing about it. When was that made and who was present? A. I think Mr. Reinhardt made it at the depot. I asked the question, "Are you going to stay in the water business and supply us more water?” — and he said Wo* Mr# Polger and Mr, Bennett were at the meeting, and Mr, Polger said, ”We can’t furnish any water$ the Railroad Company owns the water, and if they don’t give it — ” — and Mr, Bennett said when I asked for more water, ”fe don’t intend to and we don’t have to,”
