This being the time set for the opening of bids for the installation of improvements in Assessment District No. 200-17; bids were received from the following firms: ESPY BROTHERS LONGLEY CONSTRUCTION CO. Commissioner Sharp moved the foregoing bids be referred to the City Manager and Director of Public Works for tabulation and recommendation. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Fountain. Action on the proposals for a franchise for the advertising on bus benches was deferred until the next regular meeting on January 4, 1956. This being the time set for the continuation of the public hearing on the assessment roll for the installation of improvements in Assessment District No. 100-36, His Honor asked if there were any protestants present. No one present objected. Commissioner Sharp moved this public hearing be continued until December 29, 1955 at 7.30 P.M. Wiley 2 years City Manager Kennedy reported that he had not received written confirmation from the Elks Club, but that he had talked with them over the telephone and they are not willing to dedicate or trade property for the extension of North 6th Street to Bonanza Road. Mr. Kennedy reported that in order to employ a part time executive secretary for the Nevada Municipal League, that the annual dues of the City will have to be raised to $1,125.00. Commissioner Sharp moved the recommendation be approved. Kennedy recommended that Bid No. 55.21 for the furnishing of two prefabricated steel buildings for the Cemetery and Garage be awarded to low bidder, Las Vegas Machine Co. in the total amount of $20,768.00.
