Reno and Sparks water consumers are fortunate that there are no meters and we do not want them. We have beautiful lawns and gardens because we have plenty of water. But we will not have it always if the consumers of the two communities and the surrounding area served with domestic water by the Sierra Pacific Power Com­pany continue to waste it. The Sparks city council is complaining now about lack of pressure and a lack of water in that community. There’s plenty of water to go around if consumers would use it properly. Gutters in Reno and Sparks are often running a full stream of water supplied by lawn sprinklers along the streets. The excess water is detrimental to the lawns as well as wasted. Twenty-seven million gallons of Water is 700 gallons' per capita per day which has the doubtful distinction of being one of the highest if not the highest consumption in the country. If we. had meters plumbing would be in proper repair and faucets would not be permitted to run full stream constantly. If we had meters our lawns and gardens would suffer and Reno and Sparks would lose much of their beauty and their parks would not he so inciting. It is no problem to conserve water by using it properly. Carelessness is at fault. Sometimes it is indifference. I Remember we do not want meters.
