Mir. Knickerbocker: #4 June 34, 1936. H S U % ever during the time i t has been in e f f e e t so f a r during June, up u n til the time the front-page p u b lic ity was given the situ a tio n by the lo c a l newspaper, and sp e c ia l canvasser was put on to check the c ity and stop v is ib le waste o f w ater. What we wanted, and what we asked the Gity Commission fo r , was an ordinance to eonfine lawn sp rin k lin g to c e r ta in hours of the day, in order to give the water a chance to build up a reserve in the re s e rv o ir, sim ila r to the r e s t r ic t io n in e f f e e t two years ago, but the Commission saw f i t to leave th is provision out of the ordinance. enactment of a c i t y ordinance to p ro h ib it waste of water thru these cooling machines, as the Mayor and one or two members of the C ity Commission use th is type of cooling machine in th e ir resp ectiv e p laces of bu sin ess. Por th at reason, I am anxious th at the S tate law be repealed or amended to permit the use of meters wherever water is used merely for cooling purposes, then perm itted to run in to the sewer, fo r a meter would c e r ta in ly cut down th is kind of water w aste. I t i s , of course, out of the question to expect Yours very tr u ly , Vice President cc - Mr. W. M. J e f f e r s .
