Our development and prosperity depend entirely upon safeguarding our established rights in that River. At the moment our rights in the Colorado River are being jeopardized by a number of measures now pending in Congress, seeking to authorize expenditures of vast sums of money on new construction projects on the Colorado River. These proposed projects, numbering one hundred thirty-four, together with those already in operation, call for 2*# MORE WATER THAN IS NOW AVAILABLE IN THE RIVER. Southern California communities are obligated to pay out more than one-half billion dollars for Colorado River development projects now in operation. This development is gravely threatened. To forestall the tragedy of a widespread water shortage citizens from all over Southern California are enrolling in the Colorado River Association, which is non-profit and non-partisan. The immediate objective of this Association is to obtain the support of our Congressmen in the advancement of feasible Colorado River projects and the protection of our legitimate rights on the Colorado River. You are asked to join our Association, without financial obligation on your part, by filling out, signing, and returning the attached self-addressed postal card. Your prompt attention will be greatly appreciated. Very truly yours, COLORADO RIVER ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE SECRETARY HARRY C. MORGAN EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE DURWARD HOWES B. D. Howes & Son JOY J.
