I V t March 26, 1943 W 23-6 Mr. C. B. Sexton, Chairman Public Serrloe Commission of Nevada Carson City, Nevada Dear Mr. Sexton} Acknowledging your circular letter March 22nd addressed to Public utility Water Companies: We here In Lae Vegas have given considerable thought to the subject of Victory Cardens, prior to receipt of your letter, and in view of the national food situation, have concluded to sake no additional charge for water thus used, where the Victory Carden is located on lots occupied by owner* s house. Eowever in view of the water situation here, with which you are acquainted, and the tendency toward waste by some of our consumers who do not realise the value of water frost a United source, we hesitate to take the bars down sntirsly. We note the Carson water company has retained a degree of control over this through their asters, even though at a modified rate. It appears to us the solution Is to make no charge for Victory gardens located on lots occupied by owners house; but to prevent the possibility of abuse of this privilege by parties going into general gardening on a eonmerelal scale we will apply a nominal charge of 2^ per 140 equare feet for gardening on vacant lots. for. example the rate on two 23 feet lots with the usual depth of 140 feet to the alley would be only #1.00 per month. This will require no change in our rate schedule, and we will observe the matter throughout this summer to see what effect it has on maximum consumption during the hot months. With best wishes, X bsg to remain » Yours very truly, raj Bsnr BICST Vice President
